Parking is horrible and apartments are poorly insulatedsubmitted by Gabriel G. - |Recommended: YesYou get what you pay for. The cheaper rent, for the area , definitely matches the quality of the property. There is no parking. The vast majority of the parking spaces are reserved, which is ridiculous. I refuse to pay an extra 25 per mo. for a reserved parking spot due to the fact that if there were no reserved spots, there would be plenty of parking for everybody. It is inconvenient to be stuck with parking three buildings away from my apartment with five bags of groceries and have to worry about my children as well. Although, I do understand reserved parking is for larger profits for the company. From within the apartments, you can hear just about anything going on outside. From a cars ignition being turned on to people's conversations and loud talking, it is all clear from within my apartment. When it is windy, the large windows shake, which is very loud and annoying. You can hear when your neighbors open and close their front doors and when people are coming up or going down the stairs. The landscaping is maintained well. However, the paint, stucco, and the rails on balconies are faded, old, and outdated. The railing by my apartment is rusted and wiggles, which is a major safety concern for my children. There are numerous potholes in the parking lot and people make their own parking places anywhere they want. Although I can't blame them with the insufficient amount of parking. Inside of the apartments, there are many layers of paint on the walls and all of the fixtures are outdated. A lot of the carpet is matted and stained. The stairs creak very loudly. The vinyl flooring is hideous and the kitchen cabinets and appliances look like they are from the 70's. The light fixtures are old and outdated and the ceiling fans shake and clank. The A C unit is old and has a hard time keeping the apartment cool during warm weather. The popcorn ceilings are ugly and the cheap window shades break easily. When it is cold, you can feel a draft near the front door and by the windows and the same goes for when it is hot. The windows are loose on the sill and are poorly insulated, as is the door. On the plus side, the size of the apartment is great for the price. I have had no issues with maintenance anytime I have needed them, which is good. They have always came and resolved any issues in a timely fashion. The staff has always seemed to be friendly and have always been professional. However, I have not had much experience with them. Overall, I think this is one of the lower quality apartment complexes in the area. Honestly, this is the type of apartment complex I would expect in east Austin or in a lower income area. Even though my review may appear to be a little harsh, I would recommend and have recommended the Hendrix to my friends. I am a fairly low maintenance person, overall. Considering the price, location, and size of the apartment, it is a reasonable deal. I don't expect anything extravagant for 1,100 a month, especially in metro Austin. Lastly, the two things that bother me the most and that I would recommend to change if anything, is - Reduce the amount of reserved parking. There are almost no parking spaces and it is unfair to be pressured into paying for a reserved parking space just to prevent having to park three buildings away from my apartment. Parking spaces should be a provided amenity with the rent, not an added luxury with an additional price. - The poor insulation really puts a strain on electricity use and raises the bill exponentially. The large windows in the living room and bedroom, and the large sliding door in the other bedroom really make it hard enough to maintain the given temperature on my thermostat. Having poor insulation around the doors and windows only adds to that issue.

So many problems with this place.submitted by Arturo A. - |Recommended: NoThe parking here sucks I can hear my neighbors play their loud music all the time and I believe there are at least 8 men living in the one bedroom apartment below me. The apartment is always hot or cold and the AC runs just continuously which drives my electric bill way up and maintenance has yet to come take a look at it despite the request being filed over a week ago. Overall I wouldn't recommend anyone to live here.

Making some improvements to the exterior but the apartments are still old and rent is not that cheap.submitted by Joyce M. - |Recommended: NoWhen you run into a problem don't expect any help. Always miscommunication when you speak with someone in the office and maintenance takes days to come fix anything then its not fixed correctly. Plus now they have added the Valet Trash charge and no one in my building hardly uses it as we have dumpsters right outside. Anything to make that extra dollar

I really like the location and the staff at the front desk submitted by Adina S. - |Recommended: YesI really enjoy it Getting repairs is a little slow at times, but that's okay. If it's an emergency they are here quickly. For parking it can be hard to get a spot if you work late like I do, but I just got a reserved spot and haven't had a problem since.

Terrible living conditions! submitted by Chenell J. - |Recommended: NoIve lived here 2yrs now. At move in i filled out a for with all the issues that was discovered in the 1st day. These things have yet to be addressed or fixed. When it rains, it rains in my bedroom. Almost 2 wks ago i put in a work order to fix my AC unit. Ive called everyday and on the 5th day i finally talked to someone in the office and they said the order was never put in even though I handed it directly to Office staff. That person assured me that she was personally putting the work order in. It still hasn't been completed. Its is very uncomfortable living in my apartment. I would rather be outside because its cooler than my house. I sincerely regret resigning my lease. That will not happen again. I thought it was such a beautiful place. I think people should see the unit they are moving into instead of a model home. I will definitely be moving out at the end of my lease. Maybe sooner if i can't get any AC. The new ppl are no better than the old. They are just putting pink lipstick and a wig on a pig
